Upcoming Professional Advisors Educational Seminars and Workshops

Professional Advisors Seminars & Workshops

The Office of Gift Planning regularly holds seminars and workshops for our Professional Advisors (such as Attorneys, Certified Public Accountants, Financial Advisors, Realtors, Insurance Brokers, Appraisers etc.) to provide advanced education about sophisticated and complex gift, tax and estate planning vehicles along with their technical aspects. This is also an opportunity for networking with your fellow professional advisors. These seminars and workshops offer the attendees a free opportunity to learn the subject matter in more detail from local experts in their fields and from our experienced Gift Planning Officers. We provide quality speakers with quality presentations about the topics that are relevant to your work.

~ Workshops are held in a small intimate setting where attendees will have opportunities to ask questions in a more casual and interactive atmosphere. Workshops offer one or more hours of approved continuing legal education for those who qualify and include beverages, snacks and validated self-parking.

~ The luncheon series offers one hour of approved continuing legal education for those who qualify and include a complimentary lunch and validated self-parking. Space is limited and we frequently fill all available spaces and place people on a waiting list.

~ Confirmed RSVPs are required for all luncheon seminars please.

Location for all seminars and workshops unless otherwise noted : Founder's Room at Schaetzel Center for Health Education at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, located at 9890 Genesee Avenue, La Jolla, CA 92037 on the first floor of Prebys Cardiovascular Institute.

Description: This professional advisors presentation will provide a thorough background in Elder Abuse dynamics which contribute to Elder Abuse being one of the most under-reported and under-prosecuted crimes in the country. The seminar will provide a complete understanding of where the District Attorney's Office obtains their cases and who they partner with in the community for the most effective interventions. Learn about how cases are investigated and prosecuted. You will also hear about the challenges and frustrations in Elder Abuse enforcement and prosecution.

About the presenter: Scott Pirrello has been a prosecutor in San Diego since 2006. He is currently the Head of Elder Abuse Prosecutions for the San Diego District Attorney's Office. He handles complex elder abuse cases countywide including physical, financial, sexual abuse and neglect. He regularly trains law enforcement and social workers on elder abuse and proactively speaks to our elder population countywide in an effort to prevent elder abuse before it begins. Scott thrives when working with the victims of family violence and has more than 40 jury trials to his credit including cases involving murder, sexual assault, child molest, domestic violence, elder abuse, three strikes, and others.
